Guidelines for Importing Second-hand Cars to Fiji

To provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information, we are referring to the official regulations of the Fiji Revenue & Customs Service. According to these regulations, for standard types of vehicles, it is ideal for the vehicle to be under five years old, while for Special Purpose vehicles, it should be under eight years old. The age is calculated based on the manufacturing date of the vehicle.

Customs Clearance Procedure

Upon your vehicle's arrival in Fiji, you'll need to coordinate the below with local customs:

  • Arranging for an agricultural clearance.
  • Obtaining a Customs clearance.

Customs will need to see documents including:

  • Agricultural clearance.
  • Your passport.
  • Invoice receipt showing total price paid and purchase date.
  • Relevant vehicle document (e.g., Certificate of Permanent Export (UK), Certificate of Title (USA), or De-registration Certificate (Japan).
  • Invoices showing export & freight costs, and insurance too Fiji.
  • Bill of Lading.
  • Odometer readings at the time of export to Fiji and importation into Fiji.

After clearing Customs, your vehicle must be inspected by a Lands Transport Authority (LTA) agent. You'll need:

  • Copy of the Bill of Lading.
  • Paid and certified copy of the Single Administration Document (SAD green copy).
  • De-registration certificate.
